Welcome to my kitchen!

& a warm welcome to the plant-based community.

My name is Minaëlle, and I am the founder of Minaëlle’s Kitchen. I am a plant-based recipe developer and content creator from Canada. My plant-based journey started four years ago, when I decided to cut out all animal products from my life overnight. Since then, I’ve felt happier and healthier, and I’ve fallen completely in love with cooking.

I’m certified in plant-based nutrition and am here to share with you everything I’ve learned about cooking plants and thriving on a plant-based lifestyle. On my website, you’ll find a variety of recipes, anywhere from easy dinners, to oil-free recipes, to my favorite ways to cook tofu (I promise, it can actually taste good!). Given my peanut allergy, I create allergy-friendly recipes using peanut-free ingredients.

I’m so grateful that you’re here and trying out my recipes and want to wish you a warm welcome to the plant-based community. If you’d like to explore further, here are my most popular links: breakfast recipes, dinner recipes & Instagram videos.

Why eat plant-based?

health

A whole-food plant-based diet is the only diet that has ever been proven to reverse the progression of heart disease, which is the leading cause of death in the US. It is also effective in treating and reversing other chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure, and is the most effective diet for healthy weight loss.

environment

Along with its carbon footprint, animal agriculture is a significant contributor to deforestation (including the Amazon), habitat loss, species extinction and water pollution. If those of us with the ability to choose our food sources adopted a plant-based diet, the area of farmland necessary to provide food for the earth’s population would be more than sufficient to eliminate world hunger. In addition, this would also permit rewilding of vast areas currently used for animal agriculture.

animals

As someone who always called myself an animal lover, I was shocked and horrified when I found out about the suffering of farmed animals, which are much alike our dog and cat friends. Each year, 60 billion land animals and 1 trillion marine animals are exploited and killed for human consumption. There is also increasing societal awareness of the horrific conditions sentient beings face in meat, dairy, and egg factory farms.
