This homemade green glow juice is made up of 8 ingredients (kale, celery, cucumber, apple, orange, lemon, ginger and pineapple) and is delicious! It can be done without a juicer – all you’ll need is a blender and a nut milk bag (or old t-shirt). I like making a big batch on the weekend and enjoying throughout the week with my breakfast.
Prep time: 10 minutes
Servings: about 5 cups
Ingredients
- 5 kale leaves
- 1/2 large cucumber
- 4-5 ribs of celery
- 1 apple
- 1 orange
- 1 lemon
- 2-inch piece of ginger
- 1 cup frozen pineapple
- 2 cups of water
Equipment
- Blender
- Nut milk bag or old t-shirt
- Mixing bowl
Instructions
- Prepare the fruits and vegetables. Cut the apple into quarters, removing the cores and then chopping each quarter into 2-3 pieces; peel the orange and lemon and cut them into quarters, then each quarter in half; peel the piece of ginger with a spoon or knife; roughly chop celery and cucumber; thaw frozen pineapple in the microwave for 60-90 seconds; remove kale leaves from stems.
- Add the apple, orange, lemon, ginger, celery, cucumber, frozen pineapple, and kale to a blender with water, and blend for 30 seconds to a minute.
- Place an old t-shirt or nut milk bag in a mixing bowl, then pour in the mixture from the blender.
- Squeeze all of the liquid out (being careful the pulp doesn’t squeeze out too!).
- Store the juice in bottles or in jars, then the pulp can either be composted or frozen in an ice cube tray for smoothies! Store in the fridge for up to 4-5 days.
Notes
*For a sweeter juice, omit the lemon or replace with another orange.
*If using a smaller blender such as a bullet blender, separate into two batches.
